Technology shapers with conscience.

Together, We Are Setting The Standard For Respectful Technology. We are a group of software engineers, policy analysts, UX experts, business and philanthropic leaders who are committed to giving individuals more say in how technology treats people.

Respectful technology for all.

Creating a safe and just digital world through standards development and independent testing of technology.

Better choices, bigger market.

We envision a future where balanced Me2B relationships are the norm, and people’s rights are respected. Each app or website that earns Me2B Alliance certification adds to the growing marketplace of technology that you can trust.

Alliance board members and advisors share common values and aspirations for the organization.

Dignity & Respect

Always treat one another and the planet with the utmost respect.

We test the products’ behavior, exclusive of feelings about the companies or people behind the products. Our culture, business model and governance ensure the integrity of our organization and Certification testing.

Diversity is crucial to our success; it leads to better understanding and better outcomes.

Inclusivity & Openness

People, ideas and points of view: all are welcome here.

Generosity & Service

We are generous with our resources; we serve humanity in order to bring about a more humane future.

We’re measurement-driven. We are committed to making a tangible change in the technology marketplace.

We deeply value the privacy of all people, including members of our community. See also privacy policy.

We respectfully question the status quo, and face the awkward or difficult with courage.

Sheryl Wilkerson

Vice President

As both a legal advocate for companies that develop innovative technologies and as an entrepreneur, Sheryl has seen how technology can democratize opportunity. As a public servant, she has long been committed to protecting the public interest while enabling business growth. As a citizen, she has experienced first-hand the devastating impact of privacy failures and intentional breaches. Central to Sheryl’s work is making technology accessible for all; so, too, the right to privacy, consent, and other good stewardship practices.

Why Me2BA? “I’m excited to serve together with some of the most committed experts and thought leaders, to develop standards for respectful technology that will create a fair and balanced future.”

Eve Maler

Eve Maler is a globally recognized strategist, innovator, and communicator on digital identity, security, privacy, and consent, with a passion for fostering successful ecosystems and individual empowerment. She has 20 years of experience leading standards such as SAML and User-Managed Access and publishing research in the field. Currently she heads the ForgeRock Labs team prototyping innovative approaches to helping people safely and simply access the connected world. Eve founded and chairs the User-Managed Access Work Group at the Kantara Initiative; UMA is an award-winning OAuth-based protocol designed to give an individual a unified control point for authorizing who and what can get access to their digital data, content, and services, no matter where all those things live. She has also co-chaired the Health Relationship Trust Working Group at the OpenID Foundation; HEART is a set of profiles for OAuth, OpenID Connect, and UMA that enables patients to control how, when, and with whom their clinical data is shared. In the dim past, she co-invented the SAML and XML standards. More recently, she developed new peer-reviewed research with Me2B’s executive director Lisa LeVasseur on how to move beyond consent.

Why Me2BA? “UMAnitarians like to say that privacy isn’t secrecy; privacy isn’t encryption; privacy is context, control, choice, and respect. Me2B focuses on respectful technology and breaks down the solution into meaningful steps.”

Cam Geer

Cam is a senior product executive, team builder and mentor to emerging talent, with expertise in Payments, Privacy (GDPR/CCPA), and emerging Self-Sovereign Identity technologies (VC/DID). A founder and business/product leader in several startups, Cam is an experienced problem preventer, namely, he foresees potential issues, and then navigates teams around them.

Why Me2BA? “It’s imperative for the future of our society that the balance of power shifts to a more fair relationship between people and their technology. The Me2B Alliance is raising awareness and providing tools to empower people with agency over their digital lives.”
